Castle of our Skins is honored to be soon presenting #RESISTANCE #RESILIENCE in collaboration with the Museum of African American History, which will mark our third presentation at the historic African Meeting House. Featuring music by Ed Bland, J. S. Bach, and Anthony R. Green, as well as Afro-Latin drumming, traditional Venezuelan folk songs, and US Civil Rights songs, #RESISTANCE #RESILIENCE will showcase the artistry of Orlando Cela (flute, cuatro), Seychelle Dunn-Corbin (saxophones), Julian Loida (percussion), Charlotte Abotsi (spoken word), and Ireashia Monét (film maker).
Partly inspired by abolitionist Lewis Hayden and other stories from Boston's own Black Heritage Trail, #RESISTANCE #RESILIENCE celebrates the power of known and unknown heroes, and the strength of people in targeted and/or marginalized communities. The event begins at the Hayden House at 6PM, followed by a pre-reception at 6:30PM, and the main event at 7PM. To learn more and to purchase tickets to the June 8th event, please click: BUY TICKETS! This program is made possible with support from the National Parks of Boston "Art on the Trails to Freedom" initiative, the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program, and the New England Foundation for the Arts.
