COOS, BMOP, and Odyssey Opera
As part of the five-year opera performance and recording initiative jointly present by Odyssey Opera & Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Castle of our Skins will develop a host of educational engagements. For the first year of As Told By: History, Race, and Justice on the Opera Stage, COOS worked with Boston Arts Academy dancers and vocalists to share the expansive history of Malcolm X and from it, create odes to his life and legacy. We are thrilled to share their creations with lovers of history and audiences of Anthony Davis' X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X.
Education programs for As Told By are underwritten by the Howard and Katherine Aibel Foundation.

Malcolm X As Told By: Boston Arts Academy Vocal Department is the culmination of a learning experience that emphasized the oratorial tradition from which Malcolm X came. He spoke and expressed himself freely, and as vocalists, BAA students examined his approach, applying it to their own unique modes of expression.
BAA vocalists share their reflections on Malcolm X through sound, song, and rhythm.
