Year Two

Harriet Tubman @Boston Children's Chorus

For the first year of As Told By: History, Race, and Justice on the Opera Stage, COOS worked with Boston Arts Academy dancers and vocalists to share the expansive history of Malcolm X and from it, create odes to his life and legacy. We are thrilled to share their creations with lovers of history and audiences of Anthony Davis' X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X

Malcolm X As Told By: Boston Arts Academy Dance Department is the culmination of a learning experience that immersed Boston Arts Academy students in the stories and teachings of one beloved man’s life.

Castle of our Skins would like to offer a content warning: that some of the visuals and sounds in the following videos may be disturbing to the viewer. We include them to reflect the disturbing history and circumstances against which El-Hajj Malik Shabazz actively fought.

A companion curriculum guide to X: The Life and Times of Malcom X.  Developed by Castle of our Skins and a team of Massachusetts educators, this guide includes lesson plans, worksheets, and recommendations to lead students through the life and legacy of Malcolm X.
