Mike Hodson Désouvré

Saxophone

My name is Mike Hodson Désouvré. I’m an Undergraduate saxophone student, ’26. I started doing music at an early age. During my journey I realized that music tends to develop in us a sense of responsibility, patience, discipline and respect. Love, peace, respect and knowledge are some of the values that I give prominence to. I also believe that music can show people how to love and coexist peacefully. It helps us to understand other cultures, to prioritize creativity, plus appreciate and value the works of others. Listening, respect, patience and understanding are required to be a good musician. These skills thus constantly strive us towards better communication. With music, I learned how to share, thus one of my missions in the music world is to be engaged with my community by helping and teaching other young Haitian musicians and be an advocate for Haitian culture and the community from the island all over the world.
