Kristine Caswelch
Historic performance/voice
Kristine Caswelch, soprano, is in her final semester at Longy School of Music of Bard College, where she is pursuing her Master’s in Historical Performance. At Longy she is one of their paid DEIB Student Representatives, Co-President of the Black Student Union, and one of the Graduate Fellows for the Marketing Department. As a performer, she is comfortable performing a wide variety of genres and styles and uses her music to highlight and share stories outside the dominant narrative. Recent performances include her television debut performing alongside GRAMMY-winning artist Sam Smith on SNL, soloist debut with GRAMMY-winning group Apollo’s Fire performing and premiering works by composer Jonathan Woody, and in choruses for Apollo’s Fire, the New York Philharmonic, Les Délices, and others. Upcoming performances include her graduate recital, which centers her personal experience of passing for white through multiple genres and styles of music, and regular services at the historic Trinity Church Boston, where Kristine serves as a staff singer. During her free time she can be found knitting the latest Stephen West creation, learning the viola da gamba, trying to teach herself how to weave and spin yarn, searching for sea glass at the local beach, or curled up with a good book and her latest tea blend creation.
