Violist Eve Boltax is an active performer, teacher, and teaching artist in the northeast. She is one half of the saxophone and viola duo, Patchtax, who explore unconventional performance practices within the realm of chamber music. She has performed with many regional orchestras including the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Portland Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, and Cape Ann Symphony. As a performer of new music she has worked with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Callithumpian Ensemble, and the Equilibrium Ensemble. She also performs regularly with the classical period instrument orchestra, Grand Harmonie. From 2014 - 2017, she was the violist of the Cardamom Quartet.

As a teaching artist, Eve has worked with Classroom Cantatas, TERC, the Boston Arts Academy, the Broad Institute, the Vermont Creative Education Lab, and has trained at Lincoln Center Education. Patchtax is currently the musicians-in-residence with the MANNA community where they have begun a choir program for homeless men and women of downtown Boston. She is also a member of the Boston-based social justice network, Play for Justice.

Eve has completed residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, and Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts. She has performed in masterclasses for Kim Kashkashian, Carol Rodland, Georg Frederich Haas, the Borremeo Quartet, and the Chiara Quartet. She received her Master of Music degree at the Longy School of Music as a student of Dimitri Murrath and was the recipient of the President’s Award for Teaching Artistry. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where was a student of Elizabeth Chang and the recipient of the Julian Olevsky Scholarship and the 2010 Concerto Competition Winner. She is currently training to become a Feldenkrais practitioner under Aliza Stewart and teaches Suzuki violin at her home studio. For more: www.eveboltax.com
