Emerson Sudbury is a New York City based composer with experience writing for a variety of instruments. He recently finished his MA in music composition at Hunter College and is influenced by contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt, Kaija Saariaho and Salvatore Sciarrino. Emerson’s work attempts to incorporate African-American folk music traditions into a contemporary soundscape using extended techniques and electronics.
