Caden Burston (they/them), is a Boston-based violinist, researcher and writer. They use music as means to explore liberation, reclamation & communion. Caden is currently a junior at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee under the tutelage of Sharan Leventhal, additionally completing a minor in Africana Studies. Caden is especially interested in Black music tradition and aesthetic, its presence in instrumental repertoire, and how to preserve the legacy of Black composers through performance and education.This is Caden’s second BSU Intercollegiate Festival(!!) with Castle of Our Skins, where last year they were able to work with composers, explore new music in community and begin to answer these very questions. Caden has also been a fellow at the Antenna Cloud Farm Experimental Institute, combining their love for improvisation with a desire for collaborative exploration. In their free time, they enjoy writing and loving on their cat Earl.
