A word on the art:
The visual art work for this proposal must come from a Black visual artist; the selection is not limited to Black Americans, but can include, for example, African masks, buildings of Haitian architects, Afro-Brazilian fashion art, Black multi-racial artists such as Archibald Motley, mixed media artists/photographers such as Daniel Callahan, and more. We encourage many interpretations of “visual art” that explore a myriad of genres and topics, not just those attributed to the “Black experience”. In other words, we encourage you to think outside the box, even though the content of the box is plentiful and beautiful!
