BRANDIE GARCIA
DEVELOPMENT & EVENTS ASSISTANT
Brandie Garcia is a connoisseur of Black Arts. With degrees in both Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies and Black Music Studies from Brandeis University, Brandie has been committed to studying the impact of Afro-diasporic musics from an ethnomusicological lens. They view the arts as not only as a tool for self expression, but also a historical means of change. Passionate about culturally competent music education, Brandie does not view the lack of access to proper and thorough arts education as only furthering the education gap to those who have been disadvantaged, but also a mode of oppression to censor radical thought that has historically been proven to transform the minds of the American masses time and time again. With this in mind, Brandie is excited to fill a role in COOS' development team and create relationships with those passionate with COOS' mission. Beyond that Brandie is a tenor, a Boston Children's Chorus Alum, and a fan of embroidery and theater.
