Castle of our Skins is proud to announce its new Shirley Graham Du Bois Creative-in-Residence program, generously funded by donors Arlene and Larry Dunn. This new program invites creative artists from all disciplines to collaborate in various ways with Castle of our Skins throughout the entire season. Tanyaradzwa A. Tawengwa, the inaugural winner of the Shirley Graham Du Bois Creative-in-Residence program, will create new work(s), co-design at least one Castle of our Skins’ production, and write several thought-pieces for its BIBA (Beauty in Black Artistry) Blog. She will receive a $1,000 honorarium among other support during her tenure.

Julius Eastman "stay on it" virtual video premiere

Castle of our Skins and a collective of arts organizations (Challenge the Stats, Contemporaneous, Kyle Marshall Choreography,The Dream Unfinished, and presented by Lincoln Center) have teamed up to create a diverse and inclusive online orchestra performing "Stay On It" by Julius Eastman. The performance is dedicated to blue-collar essential workers who overwhelmingly are people of color.

With students from the Boston String Academy and Josiah Quincy Elementary School Orchestra Programs, and presented by The Celebrity Series of Boston Neighborhood Arts program, we gave the virtual world premiere of Anthony R. Green’s "Catto’s Courage," a work inspired by freedom fighter and educator Octavius Catto .
