Lizzie BurnsAn active freelancer in the Greater Boston area Lizzie Burns is a Fellow of Symphony Nova, a founding member of Phoenix Orchestra and the Pianosofia Chamber Players, and has performed at the American Repertory Theater. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree from Boston University under the tutelage of Boston Symphony Orchestra principal bassist Edwin Barker. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2014 under the tutelage of Orpheus Chamber orchestra’s founding solo bassist Don Palma. In the summers of ’14-’16 Lizzie has a fellow at the Yellow Barn festival in Putney, Vermont where she was exposed to a large body of contemporary chamber works and collaborated with the illustrious faculty as well as students. Lizzie returned to Yellow Barn as an Artist in Residence in 2015 and 2016. Lizzie also spent two summers at the National Orchestral Institute and held principal positions of both the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. While at NEC she was a member of the 2013-2014 season’s conductor-less Chamber Orchestra as well as the Contemporary Ensemble. In 2014 Lizzie performed Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet with the Borromeo String Quartet as a winner of their annual Guest Artist Award Competition. Starting in the fall of 2016 Lizzie will be a fellow of Ensemble ACJW in New York City.
