Destiny PolkDes Polk is a Boston based performance and teaching artist, producer, and founder of art-activist platform Radical Black Girl. Audacious, unapologetic and empowered in self-knowledge, she invites her communities to self-transformation through art. She has been dancing professionally for 16 years and sharing her poetry with audiences small and large for 9 years. She has presented works at the Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Boston Chapter, Multi-Cultural Teaching Institute, The White Privilege Conference, Urban Bush Women's Summer Institute, The Isabella Garner Museum, to name a few, as well as premiered her interactive performance and celebration, RESIST(D)ANCE at the OBERON. Des is concerned about speaking truth to a country that attempts to rewrite its own history while having actively tried to suppress African and Native American history and culture. She is also deeply passionate about advocating for marginalized groups of people, especially low-income communities of color, women of color and young self identifying black girls.
