Annegret KlauaViolinist Annegret Klaua is a performer, educator, and activist based in Somerville, Mass. Her many chamber music performances in the area have brought her to venues ranging from Jordan Hall and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to churches, retirement homes, and homeless shelters, the latter as part of Shelter Music Boston. Passionate about contemporary music, Annegret spent eight summers in Winston-Salem, performing and teaching 20th and 21st century music and thought to gifted high school students at the Governor’s School of North Carolina. As an orchestral musician, she plays with the Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms Society (formerly Boston Classical Orchestra), Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Odyssey Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and Portland Symphony Orchestra.

Dedicated to social change, health and human rights, Annegret works for the Institute for Health and Recovery on tobacco education and treatment integration, training mental health and substance use treatment providers throughout Massachusetts. She previously managed clinical and educational programs for the mental health care of refugees and survivors of torture. Since 2008, she has been a rape crisis counselor with the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center's Medical Advocacy volunteer program.
